Holy Name School Junior High Homework Policy 2018-2019
This year’s policy reflects the Intermediate Homework Policy using 3-2-1 point system. (These are points used to calculate the student’s grade, not conduct points) > Completion of assigned homework is worth 3 points. The student will receive the full 3 points when homework is turned in on time. The homework may also be graded for correctness. > If homework is not completed on the due date, the student must fill out a Homework IOU form. > If the homework is turned in one day late, the student will receive 2 points for the assignment. > If the late homework is not turned in on the second day, the student will be required to complete the assignment in a work room supervised by an off duty teacher during recess. The student will receive 1 point after the assignment is complete. > No zeros will be given, because all homework assignments will be turned in. The Homework IOU will be filled out by the student stating their name, the assignment, the date assigned and the reason they did not complete the assignment. The teacher will note the date the homework was submitted along with the number of points awarded. These slips will be retained by the teacher to share with the parent at conference time.
Additionally students in the junior high department will be required to use an assignment book/planner. This will be considered a homework grade. All teachers will check the assignment books to note that the students are recording assigned work for their particular content area. The notebooks will be graded at random times with no fewer than 9 checks per marking period.
